Welcome to Hall Place and Gardens

One of the South East’s best-kept secrets. This historic house and garden, rich in fascinating history, welcomes visitors all year round with a range of exhibitions and public events and stunning spaces for weddings and other celebrations. Garden entry is free.


Current Opening

The Visitor Centre, Riverside Café, Stables Art Gallery and Shop are all open

 Bexley Butterflies House are open – booking in advance only, click here. Jambs Owls Experience is also open. Rule of 6 and wearing of face coverings applies to both.

The Plant Centre, is currently open 10am -4:30pm,  7-days a week. Plant sales are also available online at www.bexleybutterflyhouse.co.uk  

 Gardens open 9am-6pm. 

Please enter and exit the gardens via the main Stone Arch Gate and use the disabled parking near this gate if required.

Covid-19: Looking after our visitors

We’ve made some changes – what you need to know

  • In light of the Governments latest rulings, Hall Place gardens remain open. The Visitor Centre, Café and toilets are also open.
  • Bexley Butterfly House opens from 17th May, advance booking required, click here.  Jambs Owls Experience are open from the 21st May. Rule of 6 and wearing of face coverings applies to both.
  • The Plant Centre is open 10am – 4:30pm, 7 days a week.
  • Signs will be in place so that visitors can move through the site safely.
  • Please respect others – not observing social distancing can make others anxious, so please continue to keep everyone safe by distancing and abide by the governments Covid-19 rules.
  • Please take your rubbish home with you
  • Please do not use the gardens as a toilet, as our gardeners have to clean it up!

Stay healthy and keep well with a stroll in the gardens.

It is really important that you ensure that you keep at least 2 metres away from others at all times as advised by the government and wash your hands regularly.
