Veterans Visit Hall Place

Some very important visitors were brought to Hall Place by the famous Taxi Charity for Military Veterans on the 5 November, to mark Remembrance Day, the centenary of the 1918 armistice and to help unveil a new statue and bench. Eight black taxis brought the 17 veterans to Bexley from all across the south-east. On arrival they were taken on a guided tour of the Hall Place ‘Faces of the Great War’ and the ‘Code name – Santa Fe’ exhibitions before leaving for the gardens, where they spent some time helping pupil governors from Gravel Hill School to sow poppy seeds. Duck and geese feed no longer for sale!

Please note we are no longer selling mini bags of wildfowl food from the gift shop in our historic house. The site is over populated with geese and unfortunately they are causing serious damage to the gardens and the River. Please help us by not feeding the geese, ducks and birds. There are plenty of natural food sources for them in the gardens. Thank you for your support.

New community herb and wildlife garden wins support from TESCO

Tesco Supermarket have given Hall Place a grant of £12,000 to create a new Community Herb and Wildlife Garden. The money has been raised through Tesco's Bags of Help scheme and work will begin on the new garden in early 2017. The new Community Herb and Wildlife Garden will include plants and herbs that have been grown throughout history for their practical uses. Visitors will be able to see soapwort, used to make soap, lemon balm, used to soothe digestive problems and woad, used to dye fabric a vivid blue colour.    Estates Manager Tony Nield said; 'Our new garden will be a great educational resource for school groups and families.'
