Please note that the historic house, Visitors Centre and glasshouses will be closed on 24-26 & 31 December 2018 and 1 January 2019. On these days there will be no access to toilets or the Garden Trail. The site will be open 27-30 December as usual, so why not take a festive walk in the grounds, complete the Garden Trail, warm up int he cafe, view our historic house and exhibitions on these days instead.

Some very important visitors were brought to Hall Place by the famous Taxi Charity for Military Veterans on the 5 November, to mark Remembrance Day, the centenary of the 1918 armistice and to help unveil a new statue and bench. Eight black taxis brought the 17 veterans to Bexley from all across the south-east. On arrival they were taken on a guided tour of the Hall Place ‘Faces of the Great War’ and the ‘Code name – Santa Fe’ exhibitions before leaving for the gardens, where they spent some time helping pupil governors from Gravel Hill School to sow poppy seeds. Exciting proposals, including a children’s playground, craft stalls, a new shop, a remodelled visitor centre and exhibition spaces at Hall Place and Gardens will be discussed at next week’s Places Overview and Scrutiny Committee (16 October). Proposals for the site have been drawn up by consultants, funded by the Heritage Lottery, who have studied what the site currently offers and how it could be developed to become financially sustainable. Butterfly Jungles Experience & Plant Shop closed for the winter 1st October 2018 – 31st January 2019
Last chance of the year to walk around the Butterfly Jungles Experience this weekend before they close for the winter. The experience and plant shop will close at 4.30pm on Sunday 30 September and will reopen on 1st February 2019.
Our Christmas dinner and dancing event was so popular we have added another date- 13 December 2018 from 6.30pm! A festive evening of fine fare and dancing in the beautiful Great Hall under our sparkling Christmas tree. Please note we are no longer selling mini bags of wildfowl food from the gift shop in our historic house. The site is over populated with geese and unfortunately they are causing serious damage to the gardens and the River. Please help us by not feeding the geese, ducks and birds. There are plenty of natural food sources for them in the gardens. Thank you for your support.
