Two Bexley parks awarded Green Flag status

Hall Place & Gardens and Lesnes Abbey Woods have today (16 July) been recognised as two of the very best parks in the world by the Green Flag Award Scheme.

Hall Place & Gardens has also received the Green Heritage Site Accreditation for the management of its historic features.

Councillor Peter Craske, Bexley’s Cabinet Member for Places said: “I am proud that Lesnes Abbey and Hall Place & Gardens have been named as two of the world’s best parks. Lesnes Abbey received the Green Flag for the first time last year and it’s fantastic news that this beautiful historic site has been recognised again. For Hall Place & Gardens this is the 23rd year in a row the Green Flag has remained flying high at the site – an outstanding record.

“This is a great achievement by everyone. Our staff, our contractors and volunteers work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award and our residents, #doitforbexley every day by visiting these popular sites and helping to keep them clean and tidy.”

The two parks join the 1,970 UK parks and green spaces that have today received the prestigious award. Now into its third decade, the Green Flag is a sign to the public that the two parks boast the highest possible environmental standards, are beautifully maintained and have excellent visitor facilities.
