Contemporary art and community exhibitions

Hall Place has three stunning spaces for displaying contemporary art and exhibitions of community interest.

The Stables Gallery in the newly converted stable block next to the visitor centre is a fantastic space for work in all media that will be seen by all visitors to house and gardens.

The Halcot Gallery next to reception in the main house is a smaller space seen by all those visiting the house and ideally suited to craft and applied art exhibitions.

The Austen Gallery on the first floor above the Tudor Kitchen has been newly restored, exposing two wonderful stone fireplaces. This is an ideal venue for community groups to put on exhibitions, whether for a few days or a few weeks, following on from our previous very successful shows celebrating, for example, the history of the Scout Movement in Bexley, or the work of the Russian supplementary school in the borough.

Since reopening we have had a splendid series of exhibitions in the Stables Gallery, ranging from open exhibitions of local artists and sculptors, through the work of local schools, to the work of Kent wildlife artists, contemporary textile pieces, Kent landscapes on a fabulously large scale, and innovative photography by  students studying it at degree level.

If you would be interested in applying to exhibit at Hall Place please email or call 01322 526574. Details of the arrangements for exhibited can be found in our exhibitions handbook, which can be sent or emailed to you on request  Maps of the three gallery spaces, Stables, Halcot and Austen, are also available for download.
